Pre-appointment and Delivery team’s BIM Execution Plan (BEP) Guidance. The BEP is a key component of successful BIM delivery, it is the mechanism for all appointed parties to respond to the clients overall delivery requirements. The BEP is a live project level document which will be consistently updated throughout the project as required. A BEP should first be developed pre-appointment to aid the procurement process and then this should be updated and maintained by the delivery team as a whole post-appointment. This guidance document is applicable to both BEPs and walks through the purpose of the BEP. The guidance document explains the sections which should be included in the BEP to define how the design team will meet the appointing parties requirements.

Having a deeper understanding of each appointed parties capabilities with regards to BIM and information management can help to ensure the correct companies are selected and that they have the capacity needed to successfully deliver the project. The CCA is a series of questions which can be put to the potential delivery team to answer during procurement to establish their delivery process, experience and inexperience in various apsects of the project delivery.

The Civic Association BIM Association Slovakia is a non-profit organisation focused on the application of BIM technology to professional practice at the level of all participants in the design and construction process throughout the construction life cycle. The main task of the civic association is the promotion, popularisation and development of the possibility and application of this technology in the Slovak Republic. It aims to promote systemic implementation of BIM in Slovakia and provide support for the creation a legislative and standard framework, supporting efficient work and transparent management of finances primarily in the field of construction. It also promotes the principles and benefits of BIM among designers in all project phases and across all departments, but also in the next stages of construction and subsequent operation and maintenance. The website contains details of BIM conferences from 2016 to date, as well as various articles and details of events that support the implementation of BIM in Slovakia.

The BIM Institute is Africa’s official voice for BIM, as a non-profit company their objective is to improve the construction quality and productivity of the built environment through the leadership of information and education. It is impartial and remains software agnostic while supporting and helping to deliver the standards and requirements for BIM in Africa. The BIM Institute serves as Africa’s BIM voice in learning and development for the built environment. The organisation also provides guidance to AEC organisations wanting to implement BIM and programmes specially designed for students and post graduate in the built environment industry in the form of blended learning modules of interactive online LMS, ongoing webinars with experts around the world, range of online BIM tools software courses and access to virtual expo demonstrations with leading technology vendors. The information is directed at organisations that have already made the decision to implement BIM and are now asking the question “So what do we do next?” The BIM Institute for Africa provides some generic guidance that will need to be adapted to suit the particular needs of your organisation or project. The BIM Institute website contains several useful resources which can be used by organisations looking to implement BIM within their organisation. The website contains information about the group as well as a membership portal to sign up as a free member. The website contains the BIM Institutes “National BIM Guide” as well as a blog of recent news and details of past, present and future events. Finally the website contains a series of online learning and training modules.

The Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE) publishes decrees by the ‘Cortes GeneralesÂ’, Spain’s Parliament (comprising the Senate and the Congress of Deputies) as well as those orders enacted by the Spanish Autonomous Communities. This includes the official publishing of all Spanish judicial, royal and national governmental decrees, as well as any orders by the Council of Ministers. The General State Administration plans to strengthen the process of implementation and development of the BIM methodology in public procurement in the civil engineering and construction sector in Spain, incorporating BIM requirements in the tenders for civil engineering and public works contracts. Royal Decree 472/2019, published on the 2 August 2019, regulates the direct granting of subsidies to various professional associations and general councils of professional associations for training in the BIM methodology during the 2019 budget year. Recently Spain has committed to carrying out information and training actions for the personnel in charge of implementing the Plan for the Incorporation of the BIM Methodology in public procurement in the General State Administration, as well as the promotion of the use of BIM in the professional and teaching field of construction. This is why it is necessary to promote the training of professionals in the sector in this collaborative methodology. In order for this training to be similar quantitatively and qualitatively for all professionals, it is considered necessary that it be developed by the respective Professional Associations and General Councils of Professional Associations as suitable bodies to guarantee its coordination and extension to the entire national territory, and to all professionals in the sector.
