The European Commission awarded the EU BIM Task Group funding for two years (2016-2017) to deliver a common European network aimed at aligning the use of Building Information Modelling in public works across the region. Europe’s public procurers, policy makers and public estate owners recognise the positive and transformative effect that digitisation brings to both public works and the construction sector. The Task Group’s vision is to encourage the common use of BIM, as ‘digital construction’, in public works with the common aim of improving value for public money, quality of the public estate and for the sustainable competitiveness of industry.
The EU BIM Task Group was formed to deliver a pan-European approach to best practice in BIM (building information modelling). It brings together national efforts into a common and aligned European approach to develop a world-class digital construction sector. The website highlights the current developments and outputs of the Task Group, including current news, events, documents and resources. It also offers the EU BIM Task Group’s Handbook for BIM implementation and the Cost Benefit Analysis for BIM. Publications are available in several languages.
BIM Forum Chile is an open and convening body, bringing together companies and professionals who can contribute their knowledge and experiences to the improvement of techniques related to BIM. It seeks to channel technical concerns, knowledge and information related to BIM. It is also an instance of development, dissemination and good practices for technological development in the construction sector. The purposes of BIM Forum Chile are technical and it meets under the coordination of the Technological Development Corporation (Corporación de Desarrollo Tecnológico, CDT) of the Chilean Chamber of Construction (Cámara Chilena de la Construcción).
BIM Forum Chile has many documents, events and other materials to support BIM adoption in the country. Its objectives are:
- Propose and encourage recognised good practices for the development of projects with the use of BIM throughout its lifecycle.
- Promote research, collect/select knowledge and technical information related to BIM in Chile.
- Generate instances of meeting, dissemination and technology transfer related to BIM.
- Promote alliances and articulations between national and international entities, favouring BIM initiatives that have a sectoral impact.
- Contribute to the formation of capacities, competences and skills related to BIM.
BIM in Action (Bim En Acción) is an initiative of the School of Construction Management (ECG), belonging to the Argentine Construction Chamber (CAMARCO). BIM in Action develops meetings, documents and articles for studios or companies to implement BIM. Its objectives include information exchange, collaborative work and the commitment of the different actors in the construction value chain. The various BIM in Action activities are promoted with the help and support of different companies and software developers.
The BIM in Action website contains past and future events alongside many documents and downloads focused on explaining specific BIM topics. Some of these resources have a more technical aspect. Events are shared on YouTube here.
The BIM Forum Argentina arises from the awareness of various professionals and institutions in recognising the historical moment that the architecture, engineering and construction industry is going through in Argentina and the opportunities that BIM offers in this context. It is a technical and permanent instance that summons companies, institutions and professionals linked to BIM in Argentina.
The Forum is set up to promote the use of BIM in Argentine architecture, engineering and construction, through research, dissemination, training and development of good practices guiding its implementation responsibly for the benefit of society as a whole. It is organised through a Council and represents, in the most varied way possible, the main objectives mentioned above. The website contains details of the BIM Forum’s activities and many documents.

This website provides published standards, guidance, useful links and other resources, such as learning outcomes and relevant information to support the digital journey of all organizations towards the implementation of BIM. The aim is to adopt a unified approach to managing information, foster innovative technological solutions and stimulate ongoing knowledge sharing.

The UK BIM Alliance (UKBIMA) was launched in 2016 as a cross-industry alliance reaching the whole built environment to advocate the adoption of BIM in the UK and wider digital transformation.
UKBIMA’s aim is to ensure that BIM becomes business as usual whilst at the same time transforming and future proofing the way the industry works. Its objectives include the provision of trusted, independent leadership, the mobilisation of communities, support for practical implementation within businesses of all sizes and development of a common understanding and approach.
Its activities include collaborative projects to foster digital transformation, and resources and events to inform, inspire and guide all communities of practitioners.
Alongside BSI and CDBB, UKBIMA is a partner delivering the UK BIM Framework, which offers resources and guidance to implement BIM across the UK’s built environment*.

During April and May 2020, Planbim produced six webinars about different Digital Transformation and BIM topics. Some of the topics included were: Digital leadership, BIM’s ISO Standards, and how to use the BIM Standard for Public Projects, among others. The sessions are available on Planbim’s YouTube Channel, attracting more than 12.700 views.
These videos (English and Spanish versions) describe the main objectives and goals of the National BIM Program of Chile, called Planbim. In 2016, the Chilean State elaborated a roadmap to increase the productivity of the construction sector, considering the implementation of BIM in public projects, gathering support from several ministries and public institutions. In this context, Planbim was created as the government’s initiative that leads this process, promoting the use of BIM to increase productivity and sustainability in the AECO industry. Planbim is a part of Corfo (Chilean Economic Development Agency), which depends on the Ministry of Economy.
