August 31, 2020. Azerbaijan Rural Investment Project (AzRIP) empowers rural communities come together identify find solutions to challenges. Launched 2005 designed address rapid decline in rural infrastructure and services for people living in rural areas about 50% population. To date 2,000 community and livelihood projects implemented in 1,453 villages in 56 rayons covering 90% municipalities one third villages. Geographic Information System (GIS) Map developed as multifunctional tool through three-way partnership World Bank, AzRIP Project Management Unit, firm Blue Raster. GIS Map geo-located visual presentation of database of 2,000 community projects completed 2005 to date. User-friendly interface searchable by location (rayon, village, community), year of construction, infrastructure type. Tool for communication, citizen engagement, transparency and accountability. Next phase more geospatial solutions for operational effectiveness added: real-time remote supervision, monitoring and evaluation of project implementation. Engineers in field send information including pictures to AzRIP website incorporated into GIS Map database. Map overlaid with infrastructure gap and poverty data. Tool for spatial planning by local governments piloted under AzRIP-3
